Welcome to Year 10 at Priestlands School

Year 10 promises to be an exciting and rewarding year; and I look forward to the challenges it may bring us all as a year group. It seems barely believable that the year group have already completed Key Stage 3 and are set to embark upon their final two years at Priestlands. It’s amazing how quickly school years pass by!

In my first assembly of the year I set out my challenge to the year group, which is for all pupils to maximise the potential they have, and to achieve the very best GCSE results they can possibly achieve. It is not realistic to expect all pupils to achieve 10 A* at GCSE, however everybody in the year group has the opportunity to achieve excellence in their GCSE's, when measured against their potential.

In order to help pupils achieve their full potential, myself and the other staff within the year team will be supporting pupils throughout the year. This will take a variety of forms depending upon the individual pupils needs; with the primary aim of ensuring that all pupils leave Priestlands with both the best possible examination grades and the best life chances. As always we appreciate the support of you as parents in ensuring pupils are completing their homework, coming to school prepared with the correct equipment to learn and maintaining a high level of attendance. I would also like to thank all parents for their continued support with helping to maintain our uniform standards within school.

However, it is not all work at Priestlands and I would encourage all pupils to get involved in the wide range of extra-curricular activities we have available within school. I really do believe that we offer something for everybody at Priestlands, whether it is sports, drama, music, school trips, student council or working with the pigs! I would like all pupils to make the most of their secondary school years, and get involved. Please use the school website as a useful resource to find out what is going on around school, and what your son/daughter is involved in, as I know as they become teenagers this information becomes more difficult to obtain!

We also have some exciting activities coming up which the entire year group will be involved in. One of main activities within Year 10 is Work Experience, which is an excellent opportunity for pupils to get an understanding of how industry really works. On September 26^th we have our Work Experience Evening Information Evening for parents, which will provide you with all the information you need in order to support your son/daughters job applications

My tutors and I are looking forward to working in partnership with you to help and support your child through a successful and rewarding Year 10. We look forward to meeting you in the coming year, but in the meantime if you have anything you wish to discuss please do not hesitate to contact me.

Staffing changes within the Class of 2014

Dear Parents,

I am writing to inform you that from September 2013 I will no longer be Head of Year for the Class of 2014. This is not due to me leaving Priestlands School, it is beacuase I have been promoted to Assistant Headteacher from September. I will still be working with and line managing the year group over their final year at Priestlands, and still look forward to continuing the working relationship I have developed with pupils and parents over the last four years.

Mr Krzyzosiak, who is currently Assistant Head of Year 9, will be taking over as Head of Year 11 from September. I am certain he will do a fantastic job within the role. I look forward to seeing the year group flourish in their final year at Priestlands and am confident they will go on to be very successful in their GCSE examinations.
