This year promises to be an exciting and memorable time for pupils and staff.  The pupils joining Year 7 this year have the potential to go far.  My focus for this year is to establish routines with all the pupils so that they have the foundations to push on and strive for excellence in the coming years at Priestlands.  It is amazing how fast time goes at school and I would encourage all pupils to make the most of their time here.

One of my key aims for the year group is to develop a smooth transition for all pupils as they embark on an exciting chapter in their lives here at Priestlands.  The road ahead is going to be filled with positive and exciting moments for all pupils to enjoy, as well as presenting a few challenges.  I believe we, as teachers, and you, as parents, are going to be proud of the way our pupils/children approach and overcome these challenges.  Whatever happens I want us to face it as a team and develop a trust and respect for each other, creating a network of support which we will all need at some point in the coming years.

There is a positive atmosphere within the year group and every pupil is contributing to the success of the year group.  This atmosphere is something which I'm sure will develop throughout the year group's time at Priestlands.

In order for pupils to achieve their full potential whilst here at Priestlands a big effort in terms of attendance, behaviour, homework and work in class is required.  My tutors and I will be supportive in helping and guiding pupils to help them reach their potential.  It will not be all about work though!  There will be a range of excellent extra curricular activites designed for child development and for pupils to get involved in the Priestlands Community.

As part of the curriculum and the development of pupils as both individuals and as part of the year group we have arranged a residential trip to Liddington.  I think this will be a great opportunity for all pupils to develop social and friendship qualities as well as enjoying effective working relationships with members of staff.  Liddington will provide the opportunity for pupils to grow in confidence and hopefully will allow a trust and respect to grow amongst the year group.

My tutors and I are looking forward to working in partnership with you to help and support your child through a successful and rewarding first year at Priestlands. We look forward to developing that strong home/school relationship over the coming year.  In the meantime if you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.
