Character Education

At Priestlands, our Character Education programme is designed to nurture well-rounded individuals by embedding core values relating to having a good character into everyday school life.

We aim to cultivate empathy, resilience, self-regulation, integrity, and collaboration—qualities that empower students to flourish both academically and personally. Through structured activities such as community service, mindfulness practices, and a bespoke character curriculum, students are encouraged to develop a deep understanding of themselves and others. These experiences foster a supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and equipped to navigate the complexities of life with confidence and compassion.

Our intent is to ensure that character development is not a standalone initiative but an integral part of the Priestlands ethos. The Character Development programme is implemented across all year groups during tutor time, ensuring consistent exposure to key parts of what makes someone with a good character.

To further enhance this, we will soon be introducing a digital application that allows students to build a personal record of achievement. This platform will enable them to collate evidence of their character growth alongside academic accomplishments, creating a meaningful portfolio they can take with them beyond Priestlands.

By promoting ethical behaviour, emotional intelligence, and social responsibility, we prepare students to become thoughtful, principled citizens who contribute positively to their communities.
