Having proudly been part of the Priestlands parent partnership since 2014, I continue to be vested in the school’s success with my youngest son (Joel in Yr9) progressing, like his three older brothers, through the school. I have a background in clinical research (fifteen years - as a biomedical scientist and a clinical data manager) and recently spent three years in postgraduate research at the University of Southampton (School of Education).
Since my children were young, I have keenly committed my time to volunteering (running a mother and toddler group, preschool trustee, parent governor). Being a primary school governor is very rewarding but it also sparked my interest to understand more about how children learn. Now, as an experienced chair of governors I have extensive knowledge of strategic planning, school improvement and effective governance.
I would love to be part of the Priestlands team and make a difference. It would be exciting to do more and take on an additional role in governance, and this opportunity – being in a different phase of education - will allow me to learn more too. I offer willingness and a balanced parent perspective to support the continued high quality education for our children.

I’m a dad of three daughters, the eldest has now left school, the middle one left Priestlands last year and is now doing A levels, and the youngest (Mads) is in Mr Hill’s tutor in Year 8. I think Priestlands is a fantastic school and the staff and pupils that I have met are full of enthusiasm and contribute fully to the school’s positive culture. So I’m applying to be a parent governor because I would like to help where I can and support the great work being done in the school.
I haven’t been a governor before, but have led lots of teams at different levels in organisations in my professional life. In work I am the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of a digital marketing group based in London, leading a team of 400 people. I have relevant experience in digital and technology, security and compliance, as well as marketing and fundraising, although I’m sure the existing governors will have a view on where I could add value. Our business is full of young people with great digital expertise and I’m passionate about developing their careers and giving them the opportunities to progress, and I hope to bring that experience and passion to the Priestlands’ mission.
